CVS to stop selling tobacco products
Wed Feb 5, 2014
Good for CVS. How can they preach about good health out one side of their mouth (remember the thing where they asked their employees to weigh themselves?), but then sell addictive products people can ruin their health with? Healthcare and tobacco are two industries that are diametrically oppos …

In reply to: ldo #2.1 I am tired of Koch-brothers-paid shills or propaganda sicophants. Stay on topic!

In reply to: King Fish #3.3 In reply to: jimboza #3.5 Have either of you ever heard of a concept known as "Peak Oil"? It has nothing to do with tree hugging or climate change. It is simply this: Worldwide, we are at the highest level of daily oil production that we will ever be at, but …
How the US oil, gas boom could shake up global order
Mon Apr 1, 2013
OK, a nice little optimistic story about US oil production, but math doesn't lie. The United States uses over 20 million barrels of oil per day, but has NEVER in its history produced more than 10 million barrels of oil per day. NEVER. Look it up if you don't believe me.

The 118 comments above are a case in point of why this problem will never be solved in the modern government paradigm. There has been too much propaganda put out there that people have slurped up hook, line, and sinker, never questioning where it came from and what the motive was.

CVS to workers: Tell us how much you weigh or it'll cost you $600 a year
Wed Mar 20, 2013
For the ones using the CVS thing as an opportunity to bash Obamacare, consider this: If John McCain had won in 2008, do you seriously think insurance companies and employers wouldn't be doing this anyway? They probably would have done it even sooner! Seriously, if this propaganda were traced back, …
Iraq, 10 years on: Did invasion bring 'hope and progress' to millions as Bush vowed?
Tue Mar 19, 2013
In 2003, as my coworkers gathered anxiously around the TV to watch the Shock-and-Awe campaign begin, I remember asking the question, "What if they go into Iraq and they don't find any WMDs?" My question was derisively dismissed by my boss.
World leaders pay tribute to Hugo Chavez as wave of grief washes over Latin America

Well, glad to see that this discussion hasn't wound down to a political mud slinging match... This is why, if there are more than 50 comments on a story, I don't bother usually. By this point, the extremists have already taken over and there is no longer any reasonable discussion.

Jayden, Jasper or Jumanji: What your child's name says about you
Interestingly enough, according to the documentary film Freakanomics, which speaks at length about this topic (good watch), the most common name given to girls of African American heritage is "Unique" with various unique spellings such as Unik, Uneek, Yunik, Uniek, etc.
@Wowza I have such a hard time with the 'Unique's' (you're not special), Princess' (but Princesses don't work), and Precious' (You're an adult?).
